Ferrara Green
A walking tour for those who wish to get in touch with nature on one of the ramparts of the old towns that entirely surround Ferrara.
From the Porta degli Angeli (Gate of Angels) to the ancient Viale dei Piopponi with historical and prestigious palaces to the Parco Massari, which takes its name from the adjacent palace erected at the end of the 16th century. It is the largest public garden within the city walls made famous by the director Vittorio de Sica with the film ‘Il giardino dei Finzi Contini’.
Walking along the botanical garden, an integral part of the Department of Biology and Evolution of the University of Ferrara, you arrive at the nearby Piazza Ariostea, from which you can finally reach a rare piece of countryside within the walls managed by the Terra Viva Association, the only case in Italy of such a large space (four hectares) dedicated to organic farming.
