A true journey through time
Ferrara is a beautiful city of art, capital of the Renaissance, where the past and present blend in a perfect way. The d’Este family, one of Europe’s longest-lived dynasties, ruled it for three centuries and gave it the appearance it still preserves today: a unique urban design that harmoniously blends the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and made it Europe’s first modern city. For this reason, it was recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 1995 for its historic centre and in 1999 it was awarded a second one for the Po Delta and its Este landmarks.
The tour includes a walk through the streets of the city along its Walls to the new city of Duke Ercole I d’Este, with the Palazzo dei Diamanti to reach the Castello Estense, symbol of Ferrara.
