ACCESSIBILITà

Cultural and landscape heritage, traditions and tasting on the beautiful Abruzzo coastline

Excursion along the coast in the region of Chieti, which house the famous “Trabocchi“: peculiar constructions made of Aleppo pine wood, known as “palafitte”, ancient fishing machines stretching out over the sea of crystal-clear water and golden sandy beaches. They have been an inspiration to remarkable poets and painters for centuries; the Pescara-born Gabriele D’Annunzio described them as ‘colossal spiders’ surrounded by nature.

The experience includes the D’Annunziano promontory visit near San Vito Chietino, celebrated by the poet in his work The Triumph of Death, and to the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere in Fossacesia, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole Costa dei Trabocchi and the flora and fauna of the region.

The excursion ends at the ‘Da Masino’ restaurant after a walk along the Via Verde cycle path to admire the trabocchi from close up.
